Vauxhall Motors Client: Vauxhall Motors, Ellesmere Port Plant Project: Replacement of primary substation, 11kv switchboard, feeder and protection cabling. Value: £950,000 Duration: 12 months Following a careful design and procurement process Vauxhall Motors awarded the contract to D & A Systems Ltd, for replacement of the primary 11kv switchboard at their Ellesmere Port Manufacturing Plant. In brief the project involved the provision and installation of a FKI Ltd, Hawkvac 15, 11kv switchboard within the existing primary substation building, the renewal of transformer feeder and protection cabling, and site wide 11kv distribution cabling. The works were undertaken in phased operations commencing with the removal of sections of the existing 40 year old switchboard, to enable installation of the new equipment within an operational substation. Incoming and outgoing feeder and protection cables were renewed in conjunction with the switchboard replacement. Works also included replacement of the existing protection system and the provision of a remote switching panel. Overall, the project was delivered within budget and without disruption to the site power supply.
